ποΈ Welcome to Troop 36: A Place Where Adventure Builds Character
Whether you're new to Scouting, transitioning from Cub Scouts, or transferring from another Troop, Troop 36 of Lake Stevens is ready to welcome your family into a world of adventure, leadership, and personal growth.
Since 1982, Troop 36 has proudly served our community with a vibrant, year-round program focused on camping, hiking, and backpacking. Backed by over 40 years of tradition, our Scouts donβt just explore the outdoors they grow into confident, capable leaders.
π² What Makes Troop 36 Special?
At its heart, Troop 36 is Scout-led. That means our youth plan the outings, run the meetings, and learn to lead through trial, error, and triumph. With support from trained adult mentors, our Scouts gain the skills and experience they need to lead others.
From local weekend hikes to high-adventure 50-mile treks, the opportunities for personal growth are endless. And thanks to a solid support structure and parent involvement, each Scoutβs journey is filled with encouragement, camaraderie, and character-building moments.
π Troop Life in Action
- Meetings: Monday nights, 7β8:30 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of Lake Stevens
- Monthly Outings: Typically the fourth weekend of the month
- Summer Camp: A week-long camp chosen by the Scouts themselves
- Merit Badge Opportunities: Offered year-round and at meetings
- Leadership Training: Scouts learn by doing, planning, and leading
π§’ Uniforms & Gear
Troop 36 encourages Scouts to proudly wear their uniform signifying unity and purpose. Activity uniforms (Class B) keep things casual for summer meetings and outings. Scouts gradually collect gear over time, with essentials like a good sleeping bag and hiking shoes forming the foundation.
π° Affordable Adventure: Paying for Scouting
Scouting is an investment, but Troop 36 offers families multiple ways to keep it affordable. Through annual popcorn fundraisers, most Scouts cover the majority or even all of their fees. Every Scout has a personal Troop account where fundraiser earnings are applied toward dues, camp fees, and gear.
π‘οΈ Safety & Support
Youth protection is our top priority. All adult volunteers undergo background checks and complete annual Youth Protection Training. We follow strict "two-deep leadership" and no one-on-one contact policies, ensuring a safe environment for every Scout.
π¦ A Journey to Eagle
From Scout to Eagle, each rank represents growth in responsibility, skill, and leadership. Scouts begin by mastering outdoor and life skills, then build on those with service, mentorship, and a final Eagle project that gives back to the community.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ The Role of Families
Scouting is not a drop-off program it thrives with parental involvement. Whether you join a campout, serve on the committee, or help with logistics, your presence makes the difference. Even small acts of support contribute to a richer experience for everyone.
π Ready to Get Involved?
If youβre looking for a place where your child can gain confidence, learn practical skills, and make lifelong friendships, Troop 36 is the place to be.
